Your First Visit

smile-first-visit

Welcome to the Stirling Dental Centre! We’re glad you’ve found us. If you would like to book an appointment for a checkup and cleaning, to discuss your treatment options, or if you have a dental emergency, we are here for you.

Please complete our new patient forms prior to your appointment so we can be prepared for your visit. If you have insurance coverage, please provide your card to our receptionist who will help you understand your coverage and help you to submit your insurance claim.

During your first visit, our team will complete a comprehensive new patient examination where we check the current health of your teeth and gums, chart any existing dental work, and take digital x-rays and intra-oral pictures of your mouth as needed. We always screen for periodontal (gum) disease, cavities, dental infection, and conduct an oral cancer screen.

After our exam, our dentists will take the time to discuss any findings with you, address any questions you may have, and present you with your options for treatment. It is important to us that you understand what is going on with your smile, so we welcome your questions and always take the time to explain everything to you in detail.

For our young patients, we always start with a ‘chair ride’ and a slow introduction to all of the funny looking instruments that we use, and progress at each child’s own pace. We take the time to earn their trust and do our very best to make sure that each appointment is a positive experience.

Young or old, we understand that everyone can be a bit anxious to visit the dentist. We encourage all of our patients to share their concerns with us so we can do our best to provide your care in a way that is most comfortable for you. From playing your favourite music, giving you lots of breaks, and offering both nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral sedation, we have lots of tricks up our sleeves to help you through your appointment. If it would ease your nerves, you can even start with a tour of the office and a chat to get to know our team and find out if our office is the dental home you’ve been looking for. Just let us know when you book your appointment so we can best accommodate you!
